Naxos is your typical Greek island – whitewashed and beautiful, with a main town on the harbor. We’ve done virtually nothing but wander here today. Tomorrow we have a local driver coming to pick us up and drive us around – it’s actually a large island with limited tourist visits vs. a place like Mykonos or Santorini. There’s a lot of farming and tons of marble – there’s so much marble that it’s used recklessly – in one decrepit yard I saw a marble picnic table. It really is! Not a lot of tourists here – at least off season – but the hotels are very inexpensive as is the food.
