Tel Aviv!

Well, we made it! Yesterday we went from Seattle to Paris to Tel Aviv. While we were sitting around in Paris, I happened to check CNN and saw that an “escalation” had occurred here in Israel while we were en route from Seattle. It was a little distressing to be boarding a flight to Tel Aviv while reading that 200 missiles had been fired at Israel in the previous few hours and that all schools and businesses had been shut in Tel Aviv (businesses were later opened after threat was re-evaluated). I thought about panicking and staying in Paris but we checked with a Tel Aviv resident I had been communicating with (thank you, Rick Steves’ online community!), and we decided to continue on.

We’ll see how the day plays out. We’re just up here having coffee. This is the view out our window. It’s kind of funny to be looking at a mosque when my imagination would have inserted a synagogue.

Ron has fully invested himself in our travels now. As we were at SeaTac, he finally asked me what airport in Europe we were transiting through. Likewise, after 24 hours of traveling, he sat down in our hotel room and asked to see our planned itinerary!

The image below will give you a little glimpse into traveling with Ron. It’s the “cocktail” he mixes for himself on each and every flight we take. He makes it by asking the flight attendant for a Diet Coke and a Bailey’s, and then he always offers me a sip, as if I might somehow want to drink this:
