We have arrived in Valladolid! This is the view from our hotel room at El Meson del Marques, where we booked their Grand Suite for $150 a night. The room is a large, tiled-floor affair with about 500 square feet of balcony, overlooking the main square and the church. I was pretty awestruck until I saw the entry/exit for the bathroom and realized that a focus of our stay will definitely be reminding Ron not to “fall out” of the bathroom and I can report that, as of last night, he had made his premiere tripping performance and is sporting a nice cut that looks to have wrecked the bed sheets. I’ve added a nice ottoman to the garbage can, in hopes of drawing his attention to the step for today but it pains me to do so because one of the things that makes this room a “suite” is that there are TWO tweezing stations: one in the bathroom and one in a nice lobby area and I had to give up the lobby tweezing station ottoman to help block the bathroom but those are the things you do when in a relationship.

Here’s a shot from our first stroll around the city. It’s a peaceful little town, with police directing traffic at the main intersections, making meandering fun. The cathedral you see is called Iglesia de San Servacio, initially built in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 1700s. The second picture is the nighttime view, from the main square of the city.

I’ll leave you with this picture for my first post. It makes me nervous about our upcoming travels as I’ve never seen a hotel offer their own signature bug spray.
