We’re here in the gorgeous town of Antibes now and so I want to talk to you about laundry. Our little apartment has a laundry room with a sign that says we can only use the washer and dryer between 10 and 7 pm, which seemed reasonable until I started doing the actual laundry. I put two loads in at 9:52(rule breaker) and I can report to you now – after 7 hours – that all of our laundry is soaking wet, we have given up on the laundry room, and our gorgeous view apartment is covered with wash. Above is the view from our deck, wash omitted.
Don’t worry, though. We didn’t waste the entire day on wash – lovely Antibes is small enough that we can check the dryer, head out to shop, pop back in to check the dryer, head out for lunch etc. Below is a French Riviera baked good specialty that I noticed today. I need to find a way to talk Ron into buying this entire cake, called a Tropezienne. It was created in 1955 by Polish baker Alexandre Micka in St. Tropez and was beloved by Bridget Bardot. Look at me – getting into history!

Here’s a couple of shots from Antibes

And I’ll leave you with this very concerning picture. It’s from this morning, as we argued/ambled our way through Antibes, admiring the architecture and voicing our concerns for the other person’s navigational skills. Ron was drawn to this window – to something in this overpacked and random collection. It’s worth making that picture bigger to fully appreciate. It’s the “art” on the top shelf – consisting of the wooden face in profile – with a large parrot beak growing off the top of the head and then a lizard growing out of the top of the parrot beak.
I can only hope that Ron cannot find this little store again in the warren of Antibes streets. If we come home with this thing, it will prove two things: 1) Ron has lost his mind and 2) He found the store again and has better directional skills than I realized.

That cake looks delicious! And Antibes is a picture perfect town. I think you are fortunate the wooden face with all it accoutrements wasn’t for sale…….
